IN VITRO TESTS: IRRITATION (HP14) AND CORROSION TESTS (HP8)

For wastes with extreme pH (below 2.50 or above 11.50), where the origin of the pH cannot be attributed to a specific substance or the composition cannot be determined, the hazard characteristics Irritant and Corrosive can be assessed by applying in vitro tests.

The SCA Analytical Services laboratory performs corrosivity and irritation tests on specific cell lines and on human tissues reconstituted according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, allowing the attribution or exclusion of the hazard characteristics HP8 (Corrosive) and HP4 (Irritant).

The protocols used allow to test waste (liquid and solid) or raw materials according to OECD 431 and OECD 439 methods.
