Packaging in contact with food

European and national regulations define the limit concentrations of contaminants that can be released from plastics and ceramics that come into contact with food.
The different types of simulants are used according to the food products to be controlled and their nature.
The tests we perform are of two types: tests by immersion and tests using a cell. The release tests are performed on the packaging using the simulants provided which are: simulant A (ethanol 10%),

  • simulant B (3% acetic acid),
  • simulant C (20% ethanol),
  • simulant D1 (50% ethanol),
  • simulant D2 (vegetable oil),
  • simulant E (2,6-diphenyl-p-phenylene polyoxide).
