X-ray spectroscopy: XRF metal analysis

La XRF spectroscopy (X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy O X-ray fluorescence) is a non-destructive analysis technique that finds applications in various sectors from the environmental and food industries to product composition checks and surface analysis for the metallurgical industry. This technique makes it possible to know the composition of the elements in a sample by quantifying the fluorescence radiation emitted. This radiation is released by the atoms in the sample following excitation, which is typically obtained by irradiating the sample with high-energy X-rays.

Among the main compounds that can be routinely determined are the oxides of various metals including: SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, MnO, MgO, CaO, Na2O, K2O, P2O5 (expressed as %).
