Dioxins (PCDDs), furans (PCDFs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are three major groups of molecules that are among the twelve internationally recognised persistent organic pollutants: they are mostly man-made toxic products - particularly stable and resistant to degradation, posing a serious threat to the environment, living organisms and human health.
